Zappos Case Free Essays
1. Zappos transformed the shopping experience by providing online market place and making customers comfortable buying shoes in the internet. The core competency which distinguishes Zappos from competitors was a focus on service (it was service company selling shoes). We will write a custom essay sample on Zappos Case or any similar topic only for you Order Now The following sources of competitive advantages allowed the company to gain and maintain this competency: fast web-site providing extensive online product information; free rapid delivery of products; free 365 day return policy; free 24/7 call center with well-trained operators whose primary goal was customer loyalty; xcellent supply chain operations with communication through web-interface system. Corporate culture has a strong influence on all aspects of the business, including core competencies. In fact, core competencies are developed based on culture. To WOW everyone they come into contact with, including customers, employees and partners, was part of their culture. Zappos was successfully doing everything to sustain it by im proving web-site, call center, distribution warehouse operations, etc, which proves that its core competencies are well sustainable. . If it is really of a value to the customer, it is important to the customer experience, because it is a sign of excellent service and WOW customers. However, if the customer doesnââ¬â¢t need it, the cost of shipping will not cost the perceived benefits of faster delivery. As we have seen, the customer satisfaction decreased, if the customers didnââ¬â¢t receive a purchase ov ernight, even though they didnââ¬â¢t need overnight delivery but it was promised by Zappos. Considering cost-conscious environment, I would recommend Zappos to provide the customer a choice for method of delivery. Zappos could provide ground delivery, as usually, for free. But, if the customer really needs faster expedited delivery, he/she should pay for transportation cost. 3. I wouldnââ¬â¢t recommend Zappos to make any big expansion plans, taking into account difficult economic time and the companyââ¬â¢s limited budget. Zappos could add new complementary products to the shoes, but not drastically different kind of products. The geographic expansion was too costly and risky for the company at that time. Zappos had experience of international expansion, but the challenges and costs of replicating the business model abroad was inadmissible. Selling own-brand products is not a good option, because it would go against Zapposââ¬â¢ strategy of providing a broad choice of popular world brands. Instead, the company should focus on retaining and gaining new customers in the current markets, e. g. by providing loyalty cards or coupons. . More cost-conscious shoppers would try to find the best deal searching for the same product and comparing prices at different web-sites. Therefore, the first option for Zappos is to constantly monitor prices of competitors and set its prices equal to them in order to make sure that the customers donââ¬â¢t pay more buying from Zappos. Even though the prices will be the same, Zappos would attract and maintain customers with exceptional service (free delivery, 365 day refund po licy, 24/7 call center, etc. . Also Zappos has to improve supply chain operations in order to cut costs. After that, the second option is to experiment with a price (test marketing) to see what prices consumers are willing to pay for products which are provided with such exceptional service. 5. Amazon wanted to become a partner with Zappos due to several reasons. The benefits from this deal for Amazon were clear: eliminating growing competitor in the shoe market and gaining a leadership position in an apparel category. In the beginning Zappos maintained an entirely separate operation from Amazon: its own fulfillment center, inventory management, payment system and web-site platform. But in the following years, there have been moves toward integration with Amazon: 2011 ââ¬â integration with Amazonââ¬â¢s warehouse management system; 2012 ââ¬â handing warehousing over to Amazon. Now we can see Zappos selling at the Amazon web-site in the apparel category. Zappos is making some part of the inventory available at Amazon through Amazon ProductAds, but not through the 3P marketplace (so called Selling on Amazon). How to cite Zappos Case, Essay examples

Introduction HM (Hennes Mauritz) is a multinational company based in Sweden. It has become one of the largest retailers for offering fashion clothing for all the categories, women, men, children and teenagers. The business was founded by Erling Persson in 1947 and he opened its first exclusive women fashion clothing store in Vasteras Sweden and named it Hennes which means hers. He came with this idea of presenting fashionable clothes at striking prices while he was on his trip to United States in 1946. After opening Hennes, he later acquired Mauritz Widforss in 1968 which was a menswear and children wear retailer and this led to the expansion of Hennes by adding mens and children wear into its product range (About.hm.com, 2015). The name was then changed to Hennes Mauritz. They are known for selling fast fashion clothes at low prices. Currently HM have its presence in more than 57 countries with nearly 3500 stores and employing over 132,000 people in 2015. They followed an aggressive strategy which helped them to expand business globally. They follow horizontal division of labor strategy in their facilities for its operations to increase efficiency. Therefore, they outsource its production to about 800 factories in Asia and Europe. The companys design team is located in Sweden and they control the entire production operations, right from planning to setting up the specifications (About.hm.com, 2015). A brief history would demonstrate how they grew as a global brand from being a single store in Sweden. The company got listed in the Stockholm Stock Exchange in 1974, they started selling cosmetics and teenagers clothing through impulse stores in 1977 and in 1980s they acquired Rowells a mail order company. In 1990s, with the advent of liberalization of trade they started with online stores and continued to grow in the European markets. They started communicating by means of newspapers and magazines and resorted to outdoor advertising to market their brand and its products. By 2000, they were able to open first HM outlet in New York and Spain and they continued to open new stores in European markets (About.hm.com, 2015). By now, the markets were characterized by intense competition and increased consumer awareness and fast changing fashion trends has posed a challenge to HM to maintain their market share and loyalty among its customer. To attract new customers and retain the old ones, HM started collaborating with designers such as Jimmy Choo, Versace etc in 2004. They went on opening new stores in Tokyo and acquired FaBric Scandinavian AB, which had brands like Weekday, Minki and Cheap Monday. They launched HM Home in 2009. In 2013, the online shopping portal for Weekday and Cheap Monday products were started. The communications and department of HM works at a global level, mainly with fashion PR, media relations, investors relations and internal communication (Boveà e and Thill, 2014). They work through collaborative efforts of head office and local professionals to communicate effectively through each of its market. This report will appraise all the PR activities undertaken by HM and other communication strategies that they follow. Analysis of communication activity of HM The HM maintains its external relations by interacting with global consumers in different situations. They always try to stand out from the crowd by adopting new methods of attracting the crowd keeping the latest trend in mind. The AIDA concept has four stages, they are as follows: Attention: they gain the consumers attention through strategic placement of ads on billboards and on social networking sites. They have also developed an app where all the new information and offers are communicated to the target audience. Interest: This creates interest among consumers and instigates them to make a purchase. When they gain the desired attention from the consumers, it becomes easier for them to make additional sales. They also send its top level executives to the highly produ ctive foreign subsidiaries. They recruit young people and train them as they are flexible and affordable as they can be employed at low salaries since they are freshers and also they are close to the latest fashion trends (Prstrategyandapplication.wordpress.com, 2015). HM provide a conducive environment to work where employees can openly express their views and make valid suggestions. This makes their internal communication effective. Conclusion It can be concluded that HM has highly efficient PR and communications department and they adopt ethical practices in their advertising and other communication. They make use of the various offline and online strategic media choices which enable to reach out to the consumer (Referenceforbusiness.com, 2015). They eliminate any barrier in their communication with its investors, suppliers and consumers. They do this by hiring local employees so that any cultural barrier does not obstruct the effective flow of communication. They take care of its employees and maintain an organic organization structure which allows them to maintain a strong brand image in the market. HM follows the principle of Think globally but act locally. The PR department is highly skilled and they make use of various frameworks of communication and evaluate the effectiveness of its communication policies regularly. HM understands that in the face of global competition, if they want to survive they need to be alive in the minds of the consumer and maintain its reputation and its brand image (Stephens and Barrett, 2014). A mentioned earlier, they are flexible in their approach this has allowed them to put a strong corporate communication policy in place. References About.hm.com, 2. (2015).HM Group. This experience convinced me that I have the communication skills and the articulation required. My academic performance is a testimony to my ability to pursue my graduate program. I am confident that given an opportunity, I will match the high standards set by this prestigious University. Mr. XXXXX,X Statement of Purpose Essay Example Statement of Purpose Essay Statement of Purpose My name is Carlos Nieva. I received the degree of Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Telecommunications in the fall of 1998 from ITESM (Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey), Mexico. I received the degree of Master of Science in Electrical Engineering in the fall of 2002 from NMSU (New Mexico State University). My advisor and co-advisor during my Masterââ¬â¢s degree studies were Dr. Jaime Ramirez-Angulo and Dr. Paul Furth, respectively. The topic of my Masterââ¬â¢s degree thesis is ââ¬Å"Low-voltage, class AB and high slew rate two-stage operational amplifiersâ⬠. The curricular focus of my bachelor degree is in electronics and communications. During my undergraduate studies I took several courses covering topics in electronic design, analog and digital communications and microwave devices such as transmission lines and antennas. The curricular focus of my Masterââ¬â¢s degree was strongly based in analog circuit design using CMOS technology. My circuit designs were implemented with a point fivemicrometer CMOS technology. My thesis proposes a new op-amp architecture that operates at very low voltages and offer higher speed performance compared to classical op-amp architectures. The thesis project includes the circuit design, spice simulations, the chip layout design and the chip testing at the laboratory. The chip layout design was sent to the MOSIS service for fabrication. During my Masterââ¬â¢s degree I took courses in CMOS analog, digital, RF and mixed signal design. Other complementary courses taken for the completion of the degree were in the areas of microwave engineering, DSP and communication systems. The areas of research that I am interested in are classified into one of the following categories. The second area of interest is the development of circuits for RF and high-speed mixed signal applications. Some examples for this area of interest are RF front ends, mixers, PLL, frequency synthesizers, VCO, filters and data converters. A third area of interest is the development of circuits for microwave applications such as radar, remote sensing and satellite broadcasting. The research experience I obtained during my Masterââ¬â¢s degree studies helped me develop the skills I consider very useful to perform research. I was able to clearly understand the basic concepts behind the circuit designs, summarize information from related bibliography and compare existing designs to the design proposed in my thesis. After finishing the research for my Masterââ¬â¢s degree, I feel that I have the necessary tools to start a research project that will lead to an original contribution in the area of Electrical Engineering. I know that to channel my research efforts I need to find the correct PhD program with the most successful and experienced faculty to guide me through this journey. During my Masterââ¬â¢s degree studies at NMSU, I was a teaching assistant throughout all my studies. The courses that I taught were Basic Electrical Networks laboratory, Introduction to VLSI laboratory and Digital VLSI design laboratory. In those two years of teaching courses for undergraduate students I realized that it gave me a lot of satisfaction seeing my students learn from my lectures. I tried to focus my lectures on concepts that I, from my personal experience as an undergraduate student, consider hard for the student to understand. So after giving my lecture, I felt satisfied knowing that my tudents had understood such concepts faster and through a lesser effort than is normally required. After completing my Masterââ¬â¢s degree studies I am convinced that teaching and research is what I enjoy the most and that it is the activity I would like to dedicate the rest of my life. Now I am looking for a PhD degree program that will help me to further develop my experience in research and teaching. After completing my PhD degree in Electrical Engineering my plans are to obtain a Professorââ¬â¢s position at a recognized University, to build a research program with close ties to industry, and to teach classes related to my research field. Fortunately I have two years of experience working for industry and I think I may employ that experience to offer my students an insight of what is happening outside Academia. Furthermore, my relationship with industry will continue to develop through my PhD studies because I was awarded with a GEM fellowship (National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Engineering and Science, Inc), which is an organization that in combination with an industry sponsor will support my graduate studies and will offer me summer internships with the sponsor. In my case the industry sponsor is Intel Corporation. With this opportunity in hand, I will be able to increase my industrial experience and at the same time establish important industry relations that will help me later, as a College Professor, to find funds for my research.

Personality Traits Example
Personality Traits Example Personality Traits ââ¬â Coursework Example 4 December Personality Traits My selection of traits presents a favorable picture ofmy personality and so does that of the three students who identified my personality traits. In fact, all of the three students have identified more positive traits in my personality than I myself have. They have not identified a single negative trait in my personality whereas I have identified many. Each of them has identified twenty positive traits in me whereas I have identified seventeen. Respectful is the most positive personality trait in me based on all the ratings. Shy is the most negative trait in my personality based on all the ratings. This type of evaluation of personality is not an objective means of assessment of an individualââ¬â¢s traits. The evaluating students may be influenced by group think. Even if they are asked to evaluate independently, they may not identify the same traits in me if they are asked to make the evaluation at two different times. Their evaluation of my personali ty traits is very much influenced by their latest interaction with me. People tend to forget the past and more remember the latest behavior of an individual. In addition to that, people often make biased evaluations about an individual that is either related to them or has been a friend or enemy to them in the past. However, when a personality trait is identified by three different people in the same individual, it means that the individual can be trusted to have that. However, such an evaluation should be verified by asking the same respondents to grade the same individual at different times.

No need for topic PowerPoint Presentation Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
No need for topic - PowerPoint Presentation Example This paper discusses the business as well as marketing plans for Apple Inc. as the main points that will affect its presentation in the imminent. Business strategy. Hotelling, Steve, Joshua, and Brian, (p.12) says that an expert by the name Gil Amelio recognized why Apple was deteriorating stating lack of cash, quality hardware as well as software, focus as some reasons. Apple has reached leadership in its target market via the constant invention of new products. It came up with iPods and iTunes around 2003 thereby making them obtainable for Microsoft Windows systems. Research shows that by around 2011 in the worldwide market, iTunes accounted for 70% for the download of music. iPad, Mac, iPod are samples of good quality products Apple has produced than its contestants in the market attracting a lot of customers like the iPod that is easy to use due to its fast mover benefit. Again, its success has come through developing high quality ground breaking yields that are easy to use and t hat provide clear differentiation. Apple got its first advantage in the market due to the provision of online music through the use of iTunes as well as iPods. By the time other industries were coming into the market, Apple had relished benefits with a low degree of competition. The high level of growth has enabled the Apple company to be difficult to catch by other contestants therefore product growth and propagation plans has benefited the industry. This tells that the company will constantly lead the PC industry as long as the benefits stand. However, the accomplishments of sales benefits are not automatic. One fault in the proliferation plan may result to difficulty in strategy being realized. For the strategy product growth as well as a proliferation strategy to be successful, detailed info is needed from the producer regarding the new thing about the product. Most PC users and other groundbreaking yields do not know a lot of info about the company and the new thing about the p roduct. Apple should create ways to let people know as well as persuade customers from the entry of their groundbreaking yields in the market. Marketing Strategy According to Hotelling, Steve, Joshua, and Brian, (p. 13), Apple began a marketing movement around the iMac scheme known as No Beige with a view to distance its design from the other beige box of the time. Again, Apple has hired effective marketing plan where customer group may be forced by demographic, budgetary and others. At this moment of time, its products are made to target businessmen, students, doctors and many more. While Windows PCs came loaded with temporary software, Mac came with valuable and creative programs that consist of processor, spreadsheet amongst others. Hotelling, Steve, Joshua, and Brian, (p. 15). The position of the Apple is to aim brand loyalty as well as less price subtle customer like for instance, it has claimed on developing Unibody MacBook as well MacBook Pro. Marketing strategy is built arou nd different components. The first thing is to create a groundbreaking product to keep customers absorbed. Apple has driven a lot of clients in the worldwide market to choose its product because some have been developed for watching videos as well as producing products or mp3. Above all, the industry created numerous websites so that consumers can

Book Report on Guerrilla Marketing Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
Book Report on Guerrilla Marketing - Essay Example Levinson (2007) brings to light the view that he was motivated to write this work after having being disappointed by the fact that he could find the right pieces of work to conduct his research. After purchasing numerous books, and still not having enough content, is the story behind the work of Levinson. In his work, he indicates that it is mandatory that the entrepreneurs come up with measures of identifying opportunities in the market, and finding out the best approaches to apply to fill in the gaps. It is from his work that Levinson (2007) hopes to come up with a chain of resources that would be beneficial to prospective businessmen. In fact, he indicates that his drive for the work on ââ¬ËGuerilla Marketingââ¬â¢ was driven by the fact that people with the little amounts of money had dreams of owning large businesses at all odds, and indeed turned out successful. This essay shall attempt to review Levinsonââ¬â¢s (2007) work on ââ¬ËGuerrilla Marketingââ¬â¢, picking out the major points that validate this book as a must for all entrepreneurs. According to Levinson (2007), the basics of marketing include the relationship the company has, with its outside contacts. Analysts and researchers in the field of business have continually argued that the customers cannot, even at one point be alienated from the success of any form of business. Customers, in short, are the main beneficiaries of the businesses, and must always be put into perspective, while planning the businesses. Marketing, in the case of Levinsonââ¬â¢s (2007) ââ¬ËGuerilla Marketingââ¬â¢ work, advocates for marketing as the major ingredient towards determining if the business will thrive or not. This is for the reason that marketing will either leave an excellent or a ghastly notion on the clients. A good impression will, without human intervention attract more clientele to the industry and vice versa. In the first chapter, ââ¬Ëguerilla marketingââ¬â¢ has been defined as t he novel method of marketing goods and products as compared to the long-established methods. Levinson (2007) argues that conventional forms of marketing are far much too pricey as they oblige the entrepreneurs to expend a lot of money to sustain their brands. In the case of ââ¬Ëguerilla marketingââ¬â¢, the case is dissimilar as the entrepreneurs will only be required to devote time and energy to plan the kind of marketing strategies that will lead to a triumphant dealing. This, according to Levinson is the only best way that the company can sustain their brand. Of essence, this can be described as information being the key tool to a flourishing business. Levinson (2007) clearly brings out the foundations of operation of a successful company. This, according to him, refers to aspects such as dedication that allows entrepreneurs remain unswerving in their businesses. With this, he gives a case in point of a man who was consistent in his advertising promotion on Marlboro, yet the brand was visualized as more of feminine than masculine (Levinson, 2007). With a lot of devotion on the advertiserââ¬â¢s side, the brand was able to survive in the market, and is one of the best suppliers of cigarettes in the globe today. In line to this dispute, it is not correct to dispute that marketing is the key to a successful business, but how unfailing the advertisers are in terms of advertising their

Chuck Palahniuks Book Fight Club Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Chuck Palahniuks Book Fight Club - Essay Example If the rules were to be followed, the question of ââ¬Å"how then?â⬠emerges in relation to the growth of the club. It is difficult to understand this section because there is no practical way of the club growing if there was no word out there about it. The rule and the actual situation fall into a conflict. Understanding this rule follows the reasoning that the club was meant to grow in another way apart from telling people vocally about it. The outer meaning of the phrase involves verbal speaking about the activities of the club that is strongly restricted. By focusing on the eventual growth of the underground fighting club, two possibilities emerge that help in understanding. It either the rule was broken or there was a different way of the club growing targeted by the founders. This difficult part of the story airs strong support for the theme of the story. The aims of not going out and bubbling about the presence of a fight club focused on the agenda by the writer to let th e physical aspect of masculinity speak out loudly. The major theme of the story involves letting the masculinity part of individuals emerge though through actions, deemed to cause freedom, but at an expense-pain and personal comfort. According to the founders of the fight club, emancipation would be achieved by wreaking havoc and subjecting their bodies to the cause of difficulties to instill a sense of focus and discipline. Personal interpretation of this is that there is a possibility that the fight club remained in existence only after the fight commences and ends. That period is the fight club. Out of that period, there was no existence. However, if this was the case, gaining new members leaves a puzzle. It means that the rule could have been broken, further supporting the prevalent theme of rule disregard as supported by the violent acts of the members of the fight club.
